Eligibility
A successful candidate for 10 to Watch is an individual who has shown entrepreneurial ingenuity and significant promise in the first few years of their career in film and TV. Age is not a restriction, but the length of time a nominee has been working in their field is.
Nominees should be in the early stages of their career; just beginning to grab industry attention, awards and accolades within the last few years. They should also be able to demonstrate how their career momentum is building through upcoming projects. Anyone who is already well-established in their profession does not qualify for 10 to Watch. However, if the nominee has changed careers significantly (for instance, a journalist who becomes a screenwriter), they would qualify.
Positions considered include (but are not limited to): writer, director, producer, production or development executive, and talent/literary agent. Playback’s 10 to Watch is geared toward behind-the-scenes talent. We do not accept submissions for actors, unless they also have a track record of work in another eligible field.
Playback is committed to diversity, equity and inclusion and translates that into all aspects of our editorial work, including those considered for 10 to Watch. If you are comfortable, please provide any supplementary information of any underrepresented groups you/they identify with. We encourage those of all races, genders, and identities to apply.
Submissions are reviewed and evaluated by the Playback editorial team.
The deadline to apply is August 15, 2024.
